Once you have decided which class to race in there is only one choice, a new or used car. Used cars are hard to find. The price depends on the condition and is set by the current owner. Contact the Greater Coachella Valley Soap Box Derby before you get a new or used car. We know what used cars (if any) are available. We can save you money from the listed prices on cars as well as helmets. We can expedite the shipping of the cars from Ohio if time is tight. Contact Lucia Moran at (760)347-1412 To order a new car, contact the All-American Soap Box Derby directly. There are three ways; write them, phone them or email them. Allow at least four weeks for normal delivery. Expedited delivery can be arranged via FedEX or UPS at extra cost. Telephone ordering is fastest. Arrange payments by credit card or money order. If you pay by check, your order will not ship until the check clears your bank which usually adds a 7-10 day delay in shipping. Each kit contains all the required parts to build the car. Only the parts authorized and supplied by the All-American Soap Box Derby may be used to build the cars. As soon as you receive your car kit, check the contents of the kit against the enclosed parts list to make sure that everything is there BEFORE you start to put the car together. If you find that any parts are missing, the local Soap Box Derby committee can assist you in obtaining the missing parts. If the cost of a car looks like a little too much for you to afford, then earn what you can, talk to your relatives, talk to your friends, talk to local businesses and get them all to contribute something towards your car. This will help pay for the car, and it will make your car more colorful because as sponsors, they may put their name or logo on your car. It also ensures that you will have a big cheering section on race day. Don't be scared. You won't be the first girl or boy to pay for their car through work, and the donations of friends, families, and local sponsors. 1999 Stock Division winner Illiana Guajardo could not afford a car. She registered with Fox Kids Club to drive if any cars became available. A month before the race, one did. She was chosen and she went on to win the Stock Division her first time racing. You can too.
