Currently, the Greater Coachella Valley races two classes of Soap Box Derby cars, Stock and Super Stock. When we get enough demand, we will also race a Masters class.
The Stock Division is designed to give the first-time builder a learning experience. Girls and boys ages 8 through 17 compete in simplified cars built from kits purchased from the All-American Soap Box Derby Headquarters. These kits assist the Derby novice by providing a step-by-step layout for construction of a basic lean-forward style car.
For the slightly advanced car builder there's the Super Stock Division. The car offers a simple method of construction, but it's slightly larger and accomodates youngsters 8-17 who weigh up to 150lbs. Any racer who has not won a Kit Car or Master's Division local race can participate.
